Random Stuff

You know you've had a Monday when you crawl into bed after 3 White Grape Ciders a delicious steak and salad dinner prepared by MyLuc and you wake the next morning...thinking it's still Monday.

You're have a vivid dream in which you and another female are in a boxing ring...you semi-awake because you feel a charley horse coming on and awake the next morning with a pulled muscle in your thigh...when it wasn't at all the thigh that was hurting during the night.

We went to see Tom Cochrane on Saturday. It was awesome although he pretty much played nothing new it's still good stuff. We ran into quite a few people we know. It's strange tho' being introduced as Luc and Phoebe. I have to get my head around that some people in the SCA when met in mundane (normal?) life can only remember one of your names...mundane or SCA. I just end up referring to the person as both...who? Shawnna? Shawnna-Elphin...okay?

It's Tuesday and so far MyLuc and I have pretty much planned most of March. What happened to free time? My time? Does it exist anymore.

So far the plans are as follows: Arrogant Worms Concert, Rob Thomas Concert, Adventure in Eating at the Boathouse, Out to MyLuc's parents for an overnighter, out to MyLuc's Aunt's for his cuz' bday, Over to friends to get into one car to go for dinner and then a games night at Drexall. Pretty busy I'd say.

There was one more concert/show there. Strongarm and I were going to see Barrage. But they cancelled.

We are adding an Adventure in Appies. MyLuc has this great idea that we're going to have friends over from 2 to 10 with a cold appie and hot appie each...where it has to be something new.

I've started using "Adventure in..." for various things. Adventure in Eating...a change of restaurant, Adventure in Appies...friends over for ... appies, Adventure Out...a night out. Something more than our date night with a movie and sushi. I know...I'm weird some days...most days...all the time. *shrug* gotta keep everyone hopping and myself outta the gutter.

Random Songs In My Head

What do you do with a drunken soldier?
Lullaby and Goodnight
Yellow Submarine
Cheney's Got a Gun (Damn Bro Jake)
If I had a Million Dollars

Random Thoughts

Who would have thought that as of May 31, 2006 I would be unemployed? I've been fired, quit, decided mutally that it would be better if I left but never been terminated. It's quite weird. The partnership at the law firm where I work is dissolving and well...the support staff will either find other work or they'll go with their lawyer. I'm lucky that I get on well with one of my lawyers and the other...well, I won't be sad to not work with her if it works out that way. MyLuc says wait a month and see what's going on and then you can start applying for work. Anne aka Gunner says give her a resume, she'll spruce it up and then the interviews will need special scheduling because they'll be so many. Riiight.

Wishful thinking but as fast as 2006 has gone by I'd like it to slow down a little so that I can get stuff done. I still haven't saved up enough to split between MyLuc's sis wedding in Cuba and moving into our own home. MyLuc says we need $5-10,000 each to put down. It's so frustrating. I need a relative to pass on (not really) so I could inherit some money (just a grand or two).

You use sex as a means to escape what's going on around you. I don't but that's the wording from my dream last night. It was a really good night *wink wink* but we did talk about our future, the coming months and year and have a tentative plan. I'm still wondering what these words mean.

#30! This year....can I make it to November sane? Prolly not but I'm damn sure gonna try. I went to the dollar store (where nothing is a dollar but $.88. Weird right!?!) and there were all these banners and stuff for 30! I want to have a party but just helping out at the SCA Lover's Court Event was stressful. Can I handle putting together a party for myself? I've kept my Mom up-to-date on yearly warnings: "3 years, 2 years, 1 year, this year...you are coming to see me for my 30th and you need to meet Luc's parents and family". I will be sooo disappointed if she doesn't come to town but I can only hope she does and that I won't be disappointed.

I had lunch with my little bro Sprout and his boyfriend Robin. Really nice guy Robin is, he's a lawyer in Calgary, drives a nice car (don't remember what kind) and had a condo here in Yaletown that the two of them were furnishing. *shakes head* I saw him for an hour and they were here for 5 days! Running errands, furnishing the condo, going out nightly and pubbing (is that a word?) daily...I didn't have the time or money to go out clubbing with them...plus as much as I like going with my gay friends I am so tired of people telling me "Honey you need to pouf them some" (waving their pointy painted fingernails in the general direction of my girls) "You so need get those done" (now this can be a comment directed at my girls, my eyebrows or my nails) "Those can't be real" (my eyes...eyes do come in different colours without contact enhancements but did she/he believe me...nope). *sigh* Memories from days going out with Boy Aron and his then bf James.

If I leave a Hot Cappicolo and Mustard on Whole Grain on the counter, will the cats get on that counter, the one they don't normally try and go on, and eat it? I guess I'll find out when I get home and either the sandwich is on the counter all stale and yucky, there is a trail of sandwich pieces in the kitchen and living room or the litter box is a little grosser than usual.

If my best guy friend from my past telephones to chat, just as we're expecting guests to buzz up, does that make MyLuc upset? He just didn't want to miss the guests buzzing up and he was maybe a little curious and that's why he sat at the end of the bed finishing his drink. Right? I'll never know unless I ask. It could be kinda similar to when his best girl friend called and left a message and I got upset that I hadn't heard of this girl and she was calling him on my number that is somewhat unlisted....Right?

*sigh* Random thoughts, bumblin's and mumblin's.

Also...I can't read one of my favourite blogs for some reason. My computer kicks me off of Explorer when I try. So Clara* I'm trying to lurk really...and hopefully will again soon.

Wednesday, February 15, 2006

It is so infuriating when you get on a good rant/rave/roll and then blogger tells you that you may have problems posting and you go to select and save cuz it's a long and involved post and then your computer crashes. *sigh* It really was a good one. Maybe that's why it didn't get posted. Maybe the computer gods decided I was sharing too much or something. I don't know. So I'll do another post and save sporadically and then put it all together. It'll be a long one but a good one. *fingers crossed*

Dreams
Did you ever have a dream that mad you could spit nails and you just wanted to put your feet in the small of your s0/bf/gf's back and push'em outta bed. The only problem with my dreaming like this is that I end up with an instant headache. I had to get out of bed and do a few laps around my 1bdrm apartment, have a glass of water, sit and pet the kittens and then I was fine. I crawled back into bed and went to sleep. The next mornin' tho' the dream was still pretty vivid and I was still a little angry. How do you vent something that hasn't happened? I looked up the Dream Dictionary and lo and behold:

Anger
Being angry in your dream may have been carried over from your waking life. Dreams can function as a safe outlet where you can express your strong and/or negative emotions. You have some suppressed anger and aggression that you have not consciously acknowledged.

Wedding
To see a wedding in your dream, symbolizes a new beginning or transition in your current life. Dreams involving weddings are generally negative and highlight some anxiety or fear. It often refers to feelings of bitterness, sorrow, or death. Alternatively, wedding dreams reflect your issues about commitment and independence.

Holy freakin' goodness...did I really need to know all of that? I can look into myself and find answers to the answers but *shakes head* waay too much for the moment.

Family
I recently went back to Trail to attend a surpise birthday dinner for my Gran. She turned 80 and to attend a surprise benefit for my Auntie R. Auntie R was diagnosed with cancer in December and underwent surgery right away. She is a single mom of twin 13 yr old boys (who have fought since the womb) and works waay too many jobs.

The surprise dinner for my Gran went very well. She knew I was coming into town as I had called and let her know that I was coming in to see my best T, as she is expecting and I wanted to see her while I was in town. I have to specify whether itsa friend trip or a family trip...although they are related....anyways. My Auntie R and I drove my Gran up to a pub where my Aunt said why don't we go in for a drink before heading up to Rossland. Gran agreed. We entered and there was five of my Gran's six kids, grandkids and friends - we totalled 18. It was a good surprise and o'course my Gran cried and got angry because of the fuss but I think all was good.

After dinner we picked up T and headed up to Rossland. We had a few drinks, I reintroduced myself to people who hadn't seen me in a few years and then I was overwhelmed with laughter and tears. Several community organizations presented my Auntie with cheques and a little speech thanking her for doing so much in the community and now it's their turn to help her out. She was shocked. Got angry, cried and thanked everyone. She had absolutely no idea. That is totally the way that surprises are supposed to work. It was awesome!

*HUGE HUGS* More later....gotta run.

Thursday Funnies

The Spanish Computer

A Spanish teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

"House" for instance, is feminine: "la Casa."
"Pencil," however, is masculine: "el lapiz."

A student asked, "What gender is 'computer'?"

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether "computer" should be a masculine or a feminine noun.

Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.

The men's group decided that "computer" should definitely be of the feminine gender ("la computadora"), because:
1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

(THIS GETS BETTER!)

The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine ("el computador"), because:
1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;
2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

The women won.

In the hospital the relatives gathered in the waiting room, where their family member lay gravely ill. Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and somber. "I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news," he said as he surveyed the worried faces.

"The only hope left for your loved one at this time is a brain transplant. It's an experimental procedure, very risky but it is the only hope. Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the brain yourselves.."

The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. After a great length of time, someone asked, "Well, how much does a brain cost?"

The doctor quickly responded, "$5,000 for a male brain, and $200 for a female brain."

The moment turned awkward. Men in the room tried not to smile, avoiding eye contact with the women, but some actually smirked.

A man unable to control his curiosity, blurted out the question everyone wanted to ask, "Why is the male brain so much more?"

The doctor smiled at the childish innocence and explained to the entire group, "It's just standard pricing procedure. We have to mark down the price of the female brains, because they've actually been used."

Men...

One day my housework-challenged husband decided to wash his Sweatshirt. Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room, he shouted to me, "What setting do I use on the washing machine?" "It depends," I replied. "What does it say on your shirt?" He yelled back, "University of Oklahoma." And they say blondes are dumb...

A couple is lying in bed. The man says, "I am going to make you the happiest woman in the world." The woman replies, "I'll miss you..."

"It's just too hot to wear clothes today," Jack says as he stepped out of the shower, "honey, what do you think the neighbors would think if I mowed the lawn like this?" "Probably that I married you for your money," she replied.

He said - Shall we try swapping positions tonight? She said - That's a good idea... you stand by the ironing board while I sit on the sofa and pass gas!

Q: What do you call an intelligent, good looking, sensitive man?
A: A rumor

A man and his wife, now in their 60's, were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. On their special day a good fairy came to them and said that because they had been so good that each one of them could have one wish. The wife wished for a trip around the world with her husband. Whoosh! Immediately she had airline/cruise tickets in her hands. The man wished for a female companion 30 years younger... Whoosh...immediately he turned ninety!!! Gotta love that fairy!

A PRAYER....
Dear Lord,
I pray for Wisdom to understand my man;
Love to forgive him;
And Patience for his moods.
Because, Lord, if I pray for Strength,
I'll beat him to death.
AMEN

Q: Why do little boys whine?
A: They are practicing to be men.

Q: What do you call a handcuffed man?
A: Trustworthy.

Q: What does it mean when a man is in your bed gasping for breath and calling your name?
A: You did not hold the pillow down long enough.

Q: Why do female black widow spiders kill their males after mating?
A: To stop the snoring before it starts.

Q: Why do men whistle when they are sitting on the toilet?
A: It helps them remember which end they need to wipe.

Q: What is the difference between men and women?
A: A woman wants one man to satisfy her every need. A man wants every woman to satisfy his one need.

Q: How do you keep your husband from reading your e-mail?
A: Rename the mail folder "Instruction Manuals"

JIM & EDNA

Jim and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Jim suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom, pulled Jim out and brought him to his room.

When the hospital director became aware of Edna's heroic act, the director ordered that Edna be discharged from the hospital because she now considered Edna to be mentally stable. She went to Edna and said, "I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that you're being discharged because you responded so rationally to a crisis. By jumping in the pool to save the life of another patient, you displayed a sound mind. The bad news is that Jim, the patient you saved, hung himself in his bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead."

Edna replied, "He didn't hang himself. I put him there to dry. How soon can I go home?"

This should end all of the three bears stories!

Baby Bear goes downstairs and sits in his small chair at the table, he looks into his small bowl. It is empty. "Who's been eating my porridge?!!" he squeaks.

Papa Bear arrives at the big table and sits in his big chair. He looks into his big bowl, and it is also empty. "Who's been eating my Porridge?!!" he roars.

Momma Bear puts her head through the serving hatch from the kitchen and yells, "How many times do we have to go through this with you idiots? It was Momma Bear who got up first, it was Momma Bear who woke everyone in the house, it was Momma Bear who made the coffee, it was Momma Bear who unloaded the dishwasher from last night, and put everything away, it was Momma Bear who went out in the cold early morning air to fetch the newspaper, it was Momma Bear who set the damn table, it was Momma Bear who put the friggin cat out, cleaned the litter box, and filled the cat's water and food dish, and, now that you've decided to drag your sorry bear-asses downstairs, and grace Momma Bear's kitchen with your grumpy presence, listen good, cause I'm only going to say this one more time.

"I HAVEN'T MADE THE DAMN PORRIDGE YET !!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A woman calls her boss one morning and tells him that she is staying home because she is not feeling well.
"What's the matter?" he asks
"I have a case of anal glaucoma," she says in a weak voice.
"What the hell is anal glaucoma?"
"I can't see my ass coming into work today
*HUGE HUGS* Have a good Thursday!
