Can a person do "blonde" things for a whole month?
I did, for example:
I was in charge of bringing music into the office for the four people to listen to while we did clean up. I brought my discman, fresh batteries and the speakers....but no cd
MyLuc and I went to a dinner party at his boss' (?) home and when we were leaving about 5 hours later I couldn't find my shoes....it turns out I wore two different sneakers...really different not only a different colour but style
Made some comment to MyLuc and he replied with "Did you bang your head today?"...I proceeded to dent my forehad with the trunk door as soon as we got home
After getting rid of the crutches and trying to use a can, sat down in my computer chair.....I proceeded to roll over my ankle and get my foot stuck under my chair
(Speaking of, I did have xrays and turnd out I just had a severe sprain and I had spread the tendon over the bone when I fell...so, not too bad but still have to be very careful and no sprinting or chasing MyLuc or the cats)
Now those are just three examples that are first and foremost in my mind. I am so hoping that 2006 brings me health and smarts...cuz I found love, I'll one day lose the weight I want and o'course one day I'll learn to drive. But for now...health and smarts will do.

When your leg falls asleep what do you do?
I normally stand and shake it and feel the rootbeer bubbly fizzes as it comes back to life. Why rootbeer bubbly fizzes...I don't know...it's been that way since I was little. Pins n' needles I think it's called.
Anyways...Friday night, 9:30...MyLuc and I have had 3 drinks and he's already zonkered. Although if you'd had one of MyLuc's drinks you'd be on your way as well. We were watching some movie and I had to go to the bathroom. Got up and fell down. Yep, my right leg went to sleep, I rolled over on my ankle and all 239lbs landed on the bone. I o'course yelled for MyLuc but he was already sleeping. Sooo....hobbled to the fridge for some frozen veggies...went to bed and put them on my ankle...and to sleep I went.
The next morning my ankle was huge and MyLuc and I headed for the walkin clinic. Now we know there is going to be a wait...there always is. I was there for 45 minutes, the doc tensored my ankle and suggested I go for xrays although we'd have to drive to Coquitlam and there was no guarantee that it'd still be open as it was 1030 and it closed at 1230 and traffic and all....sooo..we went home. Before that tho' we went into London Drugs so I could rent some crutches...$35 deposit later I was hobbling my way outta the store. Let me tell you...crutches suck!
All day Saturday and all day Sunday I could do nothing. MyLuc said that if I got up without a reason he'd kick my ass. So every time I had to get up to go to the bathroom he'd ask...what're you doing. Now that's awesome and all but every freakin' time? I called my HR and told her what's going on....I wouldn't be in on Monday because I had to go for xrays.
Monday I hobbled my way to the taxi, $10 ride later, hobbled into xrays, 10 min or less I hobbled back to the taxi $10 ride later I was home. I finished Season 3 of Buffy and had a nap. It was horrible...well not horrible but lonely after spending so much time with MyLuc.
Tuesday MyLuc drove me to the skytrain at 6 in the morning. I hobbled my way to the two escalators to get to the platform and luckily gotta seat. Although there wasn't too many of us. Off the train to the very slow elevator. Crossed the street without too many people honking at me cuz I was slow.
Got to my building and wouldn't you know it...you push the button so the doors open and it swings outward. Now I'm not that steady as it is on my crutches so that was horrible. Not to mention the guy sitting on the table at the front door watching. Made it to the elevator and then had to fumble for my keycard as the elevator doesn't go past the first floor at that time in the morning.
Made it to the front door, whacked all the newspapers together and then had to get down to open the door...the lock is near the floor. Struggled to open the door, stay on my crutches but I did it. Made it to my desk and that is where I stayed. From 630 to 1 (lunch) and then from 2 to 4. Everyone was awesome helping with faxing and scanning n'all.
My boss walked me to the skytrain and then to the elevator, got my ticket punched for me (I don't have a pass this month) and waited until I was okay. By 4 my ankle was totally throbbing and I was in total agony. Skytrain was busy but being "disabled" I got a seat.
Caught a cab up the hill. MyLuc met me at the door as I wasn't sure I could open the doors as my shoulders were killing. I made it into the apartment and to a chair and there I sat. I didn't even change outta my work clothes. My shoulders hurt, my ankle hurt, my left knee hurt from trying to do the support for my right leg. *sigh* Called After Eight and have hired her to do my xmas shopping...cuz there is no way I can get everything done by this weekend. MyLuc made dinner, took off my bandage and was awesome. I made it to the bathroom to brush my teeth and to bed I went.
Wednesday made it to work at 630. To my desk and here I am still. Typing away. Looking busy and trying to do everything within reach. *sigh* It's gonna be a long day.
*HUGE HUGS*
My advice - Be careful getting up when your leg is asleep.

Neopets...
I found this article on FARK.
http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/13.12/neopets.html
I know that this is true because I am the proud owner of two Neopets. I'm still fairly new at all the exporing and gaming but what little I have done is very fun. *grin* I rhymed.
My favourite part of neopets is the great free stuff you can get if you explore around and perform quests for the faeries.
Do you have a neopet?

Borrowed from White Trash Mom:
Take the following quiz, and tally your results below.
1. Does someone in your household regularly emit an audible sigh when you answer the age-old question, "What's for dinner?"
2. Does the ketchup bottle spend more time on your kitchen table than in the refrigerator?
3. Do you feel compelled to own stock in Hidden Valley Ranch?
4. Does the Tyson family send you a Christmas card each and every year?
5. Do you regularly find yourself saying, "I am not a restaurant. I am a mother. Deal with it."
6. Do the folks at the McDonald's drive-thru lane greet you by name and ask if you'd like the usual?
7. When your family is dining out at a restaurant where the kids' menu is more than $3.99 per child, do you still have a kid who insists on ordering chicken nuggets EVERY SINGLE TIME?
If you answered yes to question #7, is it cause for a major meltdown if "said restaurant" doesn't serve "said nuggets"?
8. Have you been known to disguise various ingredients within a recipe just to trick a family member into eating what you are serving?
9. Is it a cardinal sin for pasta to have any type of sauce on it - EVER? Only butter and, if you're lucky, Parmesan?
Scoring:
All No's - Go back to Wonderland, Alice. Your life is too perfect. I hate you, and I can't deal with you.
One or Two Yes's - You are only minimally challenged by a picky eater, but it's not interfering with your day-to-day eating habits. Consider yourself lucky, and order in some sushi.
Three to Five Yes's - Some problems exist, but there is still hope. Continue to strive for dinnertime diversity, and you may just come out of this.
Six to Eight Yes's - Get help now. You are heading down a dark and dangerous path. Even drinking may not help you now.
Nine or More Yes's - There is no hope for you. You are one of us. Come to the next meeting of PEA. . . Picky Eater's Awareness. You'll never recover, but there is support. Lean on us. We're there for you.
~~~~~
Now, I'm in the three to five category with:
1. Either MyLuc or I ask this question and if we haven't planned on anything you totally *sigh* cuz then you have to rack your brain to figure out what you're going to be making.
2. Ketchup...mmmmm...MyLuc only uses his with fries. Everything else can have some bbq sauce. Now I don't use ketchup as much as I used to but....it did at one time spend more time on the table then the refrigerator.
3. Not exactly Hidden Valley but Ranch nonetheless. That's it...MyLucs favourite. I use Ranch only as a dip for chips n' veggies.
6. The Mickey D's in Trail...they knew my name and what I liked. Could be cuz we went to the same school but who knows.
8. MyLuc keeps telling me he is going to put lamb in something. Ground lamb or lamb pieces. I just don't like the taste of lamb....it hasn't happend yet but it's gonna cause all kinds of trouble.
Hello All!
I have to tell you that I decided my birthdate "November 24" will be changed to "November 6" as too many negative things happen on the actual birthdate. I chose the 6th because 2+4=6. Smart ain't I.
I'll go with the good stuff and maybe later blog about the bad...*shrug* we'll see....
After work on the 24th, wearing my brand spankin' new Teal shirt, black dress pants and fuzzy teal socks... and lookin' awesome (Sorry Clara*...again...no pics)...I met up with MyLuc and we went for All You Can Eat Japanese. It was awesome. We then went to Harry Potter. I have to say that it was very good but I preferred the book. MyLuc hadn't read the books at all and had no idea what was going on but he sat through it...with me explaining now and again what was going on.
MyLuc also explained that I would not be getting my birthday gifts until Saturday because of "technical difficulties". *sigh* What can you do?
Friday came and went. MyLuc and I had a nice evening at home just relaxing and trying to get everything organized for Saturday.
Saturday I went and had my hair re-highlited...this time instead of "Rebel Red" I went with "Ego" which is a deep red with purply tinges....It looks awesome and so far is my favourite. This took about 3 hours and I went home...totally excited about the upcoming hours. MyLuc presented me with Buffy Seasons 4 and 5 and told me that the other portion of my gift would be a few weeks yet...as it went out of the store as fast as it came in...hmmmm.. I finally had him tell me because the suspense was totally killing me. Killer Bunnies Booster pack ummm...the next colour...there are so many that I have no idea. Chin Chew...as Patrick will now be known...brought gifts from Elizabeth, a gift cert for books, one for Future Shop and over the ear head phones...Tremendous! Luc's Mom and Dad brought me Oregon Chai mix (x5), Oven Mitts and a Bon Jovi CD - Have a Nice Day! Bowling was just the 5 of us as the rest had cancelled or had other things come up. It was still good tho' and we're totally going to do it again.
After bowling we went back to the apartment where we ordered takeout East Indian. mmmm lots n' lots of butter chicken with a few other things and o'course naan. Two other friends showed up and we totally filled up while watching Corner Gas...because o'course MyLuc had found out that him Mom n' Dad n' Chin Chew had either never watched it or only sporadically.
And o'course everyone mentioned that it was really dark in the living room. It's true. We have no lights there except for a desk lamp on MyLuc's desk. *sigh* One day we'll have light.I had to fill out paperwork for the SCA. More accounting. *sigh* One day...soon no more math...or at least not math that I have volunteered to do for others.Everyone left but Chin and we sat and watched stuff til like 2 in the morning. It was awesome.
Sunday I met up with my friend Strongarm. She gave me the "V-Slicer". Now this is something that I have wanted for the last 2-3 years and I stop, every freakin' year at the display stand at the PNE and watch the....?...as they show what exactly it can do. Totally cool. She also o'course made me laugh as I'm her "Almost 30" friend...her birthday is in April...we'll see what kinda "age" thing I can come up with.
My brother Sprout turned 25 on the 29th. I called and left a voicemail...same as he did for me...one day we'll connect.
I talked with Stretch, my other brother, I invited him to spend Xmas with MyLuc and I ... we'll see...he's still recovering from his accident and doesn't know what his plan will be.
*HUGE HUGS*
I'll go with the good stuff and maybe later blog about the bad...*shrug* we'll see....
After work on the 24th, wearing my brand spankin' new Teal shirt, black dress pants and fuzzy teal socks... and lookin' awesome (Sorry Clara*...again...no pics)...I met up with MyLuc and we went for All You Can Eat Japanese. It was awesome. We then went to Harry Potter. I have to say that it was very good but I preferred the book. MyLuc hadn't read the books at all and had no idea what was going on but he sat through it...with me explaining now and again what was going on.
MyLuc also explained that I would not be getting my birthday gifts until Saturday because of "technical difficulties". *sigh* What can you do?
Friday came and went. MyLuc and I had a nice evening at home just relaxing and trying to get everything organized for Saturday.
Saturday I went and had my hair re-highlited...this time instead of "Rebel Red" I went with "Ego" which is a deep red with purply tinges....It looks awesome and so far is my favourite. This took about 3 hours and I went home...totally excited about the upcoming hours. MyLuc presented me with Buffy Seasons 4 and 5 and told me that the other portion of my gift would be a few weeks yet...as it went out of the store as fast as it came in...hmmmm.. I finally had him tell me because the suspense was totally killing me. Killer Bunnies Booster pack ummm...the next colour...there are so many that I have no idea. Chin Chew...as Patrick will now be known...brought gifts from Elizabeth, a gift cert for books, one for Future Shop and over the ear head phones...Tremendous! Luc's Mom and Dad brought me Oregon Chai mix (x5), Oven Mitts and a Bon Jovi CD - Have a Nice Day! Bowling was just the 5 of us as the rest had cancelled or had other things come up. It was still good tho' and we're totally going to do it again.
After bowling we went back to the apartment where we ordered takeout East Indian. mmmm lots n' lots of butter chicken with a few other things and o'course naan. Two other friends showed up and we totally filled up while watching Corner Gas...because o'course MyLuc had found out that him Mom n' Dad n' Chin Chew had either never watched it or only sporadically.
And o'course everyone mentioned that it was really dark in the living room. It's true. We have no lights there except for a desk lamp on MyLuc's desk. *sigh* One day we'll have light.I had to fill out paperwork for the SCA. More accounting. *sigh* One day...soon no more math...or at least not math that I have volunteered to do for others.Everyone left but Chin and we sat and watched stuff til like 2 in the morning. It was awesome.
Sunday I met up with my friend Strongarm. She gave me the "V-Slicer". Now this is something that I have wanted for the last 2-3 years and I stop, every freakin' year at the display stand at the PNE and watch the....?...as they show what exactly it can do. Totally cool. She also o'course made me laugh as I'm her "Almost 30" friend...her birthday is in April...we'll see what kinda "age" thing I can come up with.
My brother Sprout turned 25 on the 29th. I called and left a voicemail...same as he did for me...one day we'll connect.
I talked with Stretch, my other brother, I invited him to spend Xmas with MyLuc and I ... we'll see...he's still recovering from his accident and doesn't know what his plan will be.
Happy Birthday To Me!
I made it. I'm 29 today..well in a few hours if you want to be techinical.
I was awoken with a cuddle and a Happy Birthday Sweetheart with one of those soft kisses that take your breath away and leave you wanting more...damn him...next thing I knew he was locking the door behind him on his way to work. *sigh*
Today I'm wearing my new teal shirt with my new black pants and my new fuzzy teal socks. I'll see if I can get a picture. I'm quite proud of the fact that all the items are "new" because I normally wear things out because I hate to shop.
Tonight MyLuc and I are going for dinner...somewhere...and to see Harry Potter! Woohoo! I think I'm more excited about the movie than I am about dinner but that's okay.
Tomorrow there is absolutely no plans other than I'm making dinner. A Friday where I can relax. Kinda excited about that too.
Saturday I am having a bowling party with friends and MyLuc's family. I've even gotten ahold of Bowling Bingo and I'm going to go buy prizes. They will never know what hit them. After bowling we're going for dinner. Where I don't know..we're going to wing it.
Sunday I'm meeting one of my very best friends for lunch and maybe some shopping..who knows...again...a wing it.
Well you all...have a great Thursday and I'll blog again soon.
Quotes Found in my search for "Beauty":
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
~ Margaret Wolfe Hungerford
Time is a great healer, but a poor beautician
~ Lucille S. Harper
Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical
~ Sophia Loren
You don't love a woman because she is beautiful, she is beautiful because you love her
~Author Unknown
I held a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada's Team in Training. I totally "heart" those who made my challenge a success. I raised $151.00 with the help of Glamazon and my girly girly, MyLuc and my mentor Francie.
I took pictures of Glamason's legs n' feet because they were tired n' aching....but looked good nonetheless.
I was trying to remember the quote regarding pain and beauty. Something along the lines of "Being beautiful is painful". Lol...I know that's not it but for the life of me I can't remember what the quote is. Do you know what it is?
Glamazon was also lucky enough to get a picture of myLuc and I. The look on his face is one seen often as he doesn't like having his picture taken..it's kinda a grimace as well as I was totally trying to tickle him into a real smile...that's the reason for the grip on my wrists. Overall I think itsa good picture.
One day I'll figure out how to post pictures within my posts but for now dear readers, you've gotta scroll.
Guess What I've Done Now?!?
Now that MyLuc has his new computer system with all the fancy burner cd thingy and bigger umm....space? I am so not a computer person.
Anywho...I've got his. Woohoo! I can now burn my own cd's and copy stuff onto cd and watch DVD's in the bedroom (where my computer is located) and it is so much faster. It's awesome!
MyLuc purchased the Diamond Edition of Neverwinter Nights which comes with all the expansion packs on one DVD instead of having to purchase everything separately...which is what he did when he had my computer.
So last night he decides that it's about time that I give it a try. *shrug* So I did. Now watching him as I have over the last few years and knowing that I'm going to have to learn to coordinate my mouse and left and right buttons, scroller thingy and know keyboard controls I'm a little uneasy. But I gave it a go.
It is kinda addicting. Before I knew it 3 hours had passed and my little druid was on her way outta the academy after healing an injured man, hitting a defence teacher with her weeny little club, setting a trap and o'course healing herself.
I don't use all of the keyboard controls (F this and that) and am fairly mouse proficient but it'll be a challenge. Especially since I'd rather read than be on the computer. *shrug* Oh well, it'll keep me entertained through the winter months...or so MyLuc hopes.
MyLuc says that as soon as I've done the first ___________ (I can't remember what he called it)...he'll join me and we'll go on quests. He's totally excited and can't wait.
And that's my news. Something new. Something I didn't think I'd end up doing. Being stuck in a game with MyLuc ... and he being in the other room.
And Killer Bunnies - MyLuc had some friends over for dinner, they played one round, addicted they are...we're going over there on Friday and they've asked that we bring Killer Bunnies and perhaps something bunny related. I voted for carrot cake. We'll see.
Thursday Funny
Pecans In The Cemetery
On the outskirts of a small town, there was a big, old pecan tree just inside the cemetery fence. One day, two boys filled up a bucketful of nuts and sat down by the tree, out of sight, and began dividing the nuts. "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me," said one boy. Several dropped and rolled down toward the fence.
Another boy came riding along the road on his bicycle. As he passed, he thought he heard voices from inside the cemetery. He slowed down to investigate. Sure enough, he heard, "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me."
He just knew what it was. He jumped back on his bike and rode off. Just around the bend he met an old man with a cane, hobbling along.
"Come here quick," said the boy, "you won't believe what I heard! Satan and the Lord are down at the cemetery dividing up the souls."
The man said, "Beat it kid, can't you see it's hard for me to walk." When the boy insisted though, the man hobbled to the cemetery. Standing by the fence they heard, "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me..."
The old man whispered, "Boy, you've been tellin' the truth. Let's see if we can see the Lord." Shaking with fear, they peered through the fence, yet were still unable to see anything. The old man and the boy gripped the wrought iron bars of the fence tighter and tighter as they tried to get a glimpse of the Lord.
At last they heard, "One for you, one for me. That's all. Now let's go get those nuts by the fence and we'll be done."
They say the old man made it back to town a full 5 minutes ahead of the boy on the bike.
Not tagged but I want to try this:
It's the one where you find the 5th sentence in your 23rd post of your blog and post it. My 23rd post was on May 22 (this year) and my 5th sentence was:
We had Sangria and roast chicken, souvlaki, greek salad, roasted potatoes, spanakapita, and dessert...can't remember the name of it...very cinnamonny...
Clearly about the awesome Greek Dinner I had with MyLuc. The last spontaneous thing he's done for me. *sigh*
Wednesday Funnies and Not so Funnies but hmmmmmms:
Toilet Paper
A little old lady goes into the store to do some shopping. She is bewildered over the large selection of toilet paper. "Pardon me, sir," she says to the store manager, "but can you explain the differences in all these toilet papers?" "Well," he replies pointing out one brand, "this is as soft as a baby's kiss. It's $1.50 per roll." He grabs another and says, "This is nice and soft as a bunny, strong but gentle, and it's $1.00 a roll." Pointing to the bottom shelf he tells her, "We call that our No Name brand, and it's 20 cents per roll." "Give me the No Name," she says.
She comes back about a week later, seeks out the manager and says, "Hey! I've got a name for your No Name toilet paper. I call it John Wayne." "Why?" he asks. "Because it's rough, it's tough and it don't take crap off anybody!"
9 Things I Hate About Everyone
1. People who point at their wrist while asking for the time.... I know where my watch is pal, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is?
2. People who are willing to get off their ass to search the entire room for the tv remote because they refuse to walk to the tv and change the channel manually.
3. When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Damn right! What good is cake if you can't eat it?
4. When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why the hell would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they? Gonna Kick their asses!
5. When people say while watching a film "did you see that?". No Loser, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the damn floor.
6. People who ask "Can I ask you a question?".... Didn't really give me a choice there, did ya sunshine?
7. When something is 'new and improved!'. Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it, couldn't be new.
8. When people say "life is short". What the hell?? Life is the longest damn thing anyone ever does!! What can you do that's longer?
9. When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks "Has the bus come yet?". If the bus came would I be standing here, dumbass
Doctor's Office
There's nothing worse than a Doctor's Receptionist who insists you tell her what is wrong with you in a room full of other patients. I know most of us have experienced this, and I love the way
this old guy handled it.
An 86-year-old man walked into a crowded Doctor's Waiting Room.
As he approached the desk, the Receptionist said, "Yes sir, what are you seeing the Doctor for
today?"
"There's something wrong with my dick," he replied.
The Receptionist became irritated and said, "You shouldn't come into a crowded Doctor's Room and say things like that."
"Why not?You asked me what was wrong and I told you," he said.
The Receptionist replied, "You've obviously caused some embarrassment in this room full of people. You should have said there is something wrong with your ear or something and then discussed the problem further with the Doctor in private."
The man replied, "You shouldn't ask people things in a room full of others, if the answer could embarrass anyone."
The man walked out, waited several minutes and then re-entered.
The Receptionist smiled smugly and asked, "Yes?"
"There's something wrong with my ear," he stated.
The Receptionist nodded approvingly and smiled, knowing he had taken her advice. "And what is wrong with your ear, Sir?"
"I can't piss out of it," the man replied.
The Waiting Room erupted in laughter.
Toilet Paper
A little old lady goes into the store to do some shopping. She is bewildered over the large selection of toilet paper. "Pardon me, sir," she says to the store manager, "but can you explain the differences in all these toilet papers?" "Well," he replies pointing out one brand, "this is as soft as a baby's kiss. It's $1.50 per roll." He grabs another and says, "This is nice and soft as a bunny, strong but gentle, and it's $1.00 a roll." Pointing to the bottom shelf he tells her, "We call that our No Name brand, and it's 20 cents per roll." "Give me the No Name," she says.
She comes back about a week later, seeks out the manager and says, "Hey! I've got a name for your No Name toilet paper. I call it John Wayne." "Why?" he asks. "Because it's rough, it's tough and it don't take crap off anybody!"
9 Things I Hate About Everyone
1. People who point at their wrist while asking for the time.... I know where my watch is pal, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is?
2. People who are willing to get off their ass to search the entire room for the tv remote because they refuse to walk to the tv and change the channel manually.
3. When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Damn right! What good is cake if you can't eat it?
Sooo....
It's been a really really long two weeks. So much has happened, so many emotions surfaced...
Let me begin with Thursday, September 29, 2005. I received the dreaded 1030 telephone call from my Mom that one of my brothers had been in a car accident. She'd telephone me later when she had more information. That wasn't going to happen, me wait....so I called her right back we talked for a bit and then I had to wait, and wait and wait. 11:45 approx she called back. My little bro Stretch had crashed his car into a mountain near Moyie at 830 that morning. He was rushed to Cranbrook and then airlifted to Calgary at 3 and was identified at 9 that night. Identified?!? Wtf? He had no ID at all on him. They finally tracked our dad down through his cell phone, first calling his boss in Creston and giving identifying markings (thank god Stretch (my bro) likes Tattoos.) Then his boss called our dad, his wife called our other brother (Sprout) and so on. I was so upset and worried because the only information mom could give me was that he had internal bleeding from his seatbelt, brokern ribs, swelling on his spine, shattering of his left orbital bone, cheekbone and fracture to his upper jaw. That was quite enough tho'...I couldn't sleep, I cried and prayed and cried some more. MyLuc sat up with me and held me. I think I finally went to bed about 4.
I got up in the morning, went to work and waited and waited for more information. Nothing. No calls to the workline or the cell. I went home and waited and waited. Finally I spoke with Sprout. He told me that Stretch had had alcohol and drug tests. There was neither in his system. Thank goodness STretch isn't a drinker...he does smoke marijuana but I guess not enough to show?? They still weren't sure about his spine. He had seen a facial surgeon and was going to have plates placed in his orbital bone and cheek bone. They weren't sure about his sight.
Saturday I was functioning but still worried. I had one week to get everything ready for my bests wedding, still had to make an outfit and get the fabric for the outfit, had to be calm n' strong and not worry too much. I broke out in tears often and MyLuc was trying so hard to be there for me but he was making me angry more than helping me. I understand are powerful words. Use them sparingly. He was understanding that I was hurting, understanding that I was worried about my brother, understanding that I needed to cry, understanding that I was upset, understanding...about every freakin' thing. I wanted to scream. But I didn't. I just accepted that he wanted to help and was doing the best he could.
My girly girl and I went fabric shopping. I bought an underlining satiny material and an over matrial for my skirt. Bought a pattern. Went home and broke out the sewing machine. Started to building the underlining. Put in the zipper and tried it on. It was ghastly. No one my size should wear ruffles and ruffles it had. I showed MyLuc and he said "Aren't bridesmaids dresses supposed to be ugly?" I started to get upset. I'm the Maid of Honour not the Bridesmaid...I should look good. So I decided to use the overmaterial and make a wrap shirt using my valentines/xmas shirt for a pattern. After all...4 pieces with a long piece to wrap around ... what could go wrong. But I wasn't going to do that today. I'd had enough of sewing.
Monday went okay. I hadn't heard anything so I figured that was good. Monday night about 930 Stretch called me. He was all dopey n' drugged n' having problems speaking clearly but he sounded weird. Now, imagine the strongest man you know, one who doesn't cry, who has been through hades and come through with a clear mind/conscience and who doesn't cry....crying as hard as he can because "he sees a stranger in the mirror". I was devastated. I tried to be positive telling him that the outside could change all it wanted it was the inner person that would never change. He said he didn't know what had happened other than he tried to take on a mountain and lost. He had had some vertabrae (sp?) fused in his back because they had been crushed by the seat back when his face was meeting the steering wheel. This went on for about 1/2 hour and I was so upset. So then I called my Mom because I needed some cheering up and she tried her best to calm me down but it didn't help at all because all I could hear was my stepdad whining and complaining that her kids were so needy and couldn't they call at a decent hour. Grrrr! I totally dislike that man.
After hanging up I went and grabbed my Sara. A doll I've had since I was 5 that contains all my secrets, fears and o'course tears. She only comes out when I'm in dire need of someone who understands everything. I didn't stop crying for so long it seemed. I recall asking MyLuc if you could cry a bodies worth of tears. He said probably but it'd take a long while.
Tuesday I had the morning off because I needed to go to the Dr. for my depoprevara shot. At about 7 am Stretch called again wanting reassurance that he'd be okay. He was being released to our Dad and didn't know when next we'd talk because he knew I wouldn't call Dads...and he was totally not to call me from there. But that's a whole other story. He was calmer but still very depressed not knowing what he was going to do, how he was going to pay for everything, wanting to know that I would still love him and not be angry with him with any choices that he was going to make....he wouldn't clarify on the last point but I told him that I would be there for him no matter what.
After the appointment with the doctor I was totally drained mentally and emotionally. I called work and said I wouldn't be in. They were understanding which totally rocked. My girly girl emailed MyLuc and said that I needed her. She came over bringing three black dresses that I could choose from and then accent it with the wrap I was going to make. She was so awesome. Understanding that I needed to be alone yet didn't want to be.
Wednesday I seemed to cry all day long. I'd be fine and then I'd be crying. It totally sucked. I went into closed door meetings with both my lawyers and said I was taking Thursday as well as Friday off...I didn't think that I would be much use at work. They understood and said that if I needed more time than that they'd understand. MyLuc's friend Shawna ("Naughty") was going to meet with me after work to get some lingerie for her upcoming wedding. We had planned this day for a month so I wasn't going to cancel, plus I wanted something else to think about. I met Naughty at the Skytrain and we bussed it to the Mall only to find that the lingerie store had closed on Tuesday. Tuesday!!! That totally sucked. We ended up going to Applebees where MyLuc joined us for dinner...n' drinks. One drink and I was a very happy girl.
Thursday I packed my bag for the wedding. I watched six episodes of Season 6 of Buffy n' did laundry n' cleaned the apartment. MyLuc and I have an agreement. If I clean before I leave then he'll make sure it will be clean when I come home.
I left to go to the bus about 4 and it was pouring. So I took a cab to the skytrain. I went to the greyhound about 445. And then I waited n' waited. I lined up about 545 and the line seemed to go on and on. They called in another bus because there were so many of us. I sat with nooone until Chilliwack and then a very large older lady got on. Now I'm a big girl but she was crowding me into the wall of the bus. And she shifted alot n' sighed n' shifted. It was very annoying. By the time I had gotten to Castlegar Friday morning I wanted to walk to Trail. I was tired of being smushed.
Friday 500 a.m. the bus got into Trail. TNick picked me up and we drove home. This was the first time I'd been to their house since they had purchased it in September. It's just the right size I think. Chadney's family (Mom L, Dad L, the Grandma and Trev) had all arrived on Thursday and were in bed so we had the morning to ourselves. We talked n' caught up n' talked n' then I decided I should really finish the wrap shirt. I had only one panel left to cut and attach before trying it on and getting the neckline just right. We placed it on the floor and wouldn't you know it. I had TNick help me hold the fabric while I cut because I had run out of pins and then when she let go so I could see if it was straight - I had cut the shoulder off. *sigh* No luck atall.
About 10 TNick and I drove to the Mall. We went into Zellers and I tried on shirt after shirt after shirt. I had the piece of fabric with me so we matched colours very well but I was so disappointed when the only shirt that actually looked decent was a plain cotton tshirt. As we were leaving heading to the restaurant for breakfast I looked into Mariposa and there it was ... a wrap shirt just my size in the exact shade of the fabric I held in my hand. I walked away tho'...I had just bought a shirt I didn't need another.
During breakfast TNick told me how frustrated she was with people (Mom L) and that she was excited n' nervous all at once. We went over plans for the day n' the Saturday....just so that I woudl have some idea. There weren't many plans but there were enough.
Now I can't go into much detail here because there was so much going on. It'll have to wait for another day.
Friday - the Inlaws - I spent quite a while trying to help keep everyone was tearing eack others face off (TNick/Mom L) and trying to keep the stress level low. I did fairly well and kicked butt at cards doing so.
Saturday - the Wedding - Played remember when with TNick....it wasn't rainy n' my outfit of black dress n' plum wrap shirt matched the grooms outfit very nicely while the brides outfit went very well with the best mans. We all looked good. Pictures will come very soon. Drank the best man under the table *grin*, and o'course a happy drunk and will talk n' talk n' talk for quite a while. "Little Blue Dune Buggy" - TLick (as she will now be known) and I danced to this and were videotaped *blush*
Sunday - the Aftermath - not hungover but tired. Not much sleep when you are cold n' can't get warm. Was s'posed to visit with my Gran but didn't. Bad Granddaughter I am. Was supposed to visit with my Auntie but didn't...bad niece. Cleaned up. Said goodbye to the Inlaws. Had a nap. Went to TLick's family for dinner of leftovers. Watched Sahara with Chadney as TLick and Tuck crashed early.
Monday - was supposed to visit my Gran but didn't. Didn't try calling her more than once...bad bad Granddaughter. Did laundry. Packed up all my stuff. Went to late lunch with Chadney, TLick n' Tuck. And back on the bus.
Sat with noone until Kelowna which was awesome. Then sat with a friendly girl who was a talker as much as I and we chatted n' looked at pics on my digital camera. Arrived in Coquitlam.
4:00 a.m. Tuesday. Cab ride from Coquitlam to my home was $15. Not too bad. Gotta keep that in mind. Walked in and MyLuc was talking away. He normally wakes up on and off from 4 til his alarm at 530 because of the cats wanting cuddling. I went to have a shower n' wash off the bus stink and climbed into bed and he was still talking. Talk talk talk. I finally told him that I really really wanted to get some sleep before going to work at 645. He did. 730. Left home for work. Yup, I slept in. I even had had MyLuc turn the oven timer on and his alarm so I'd have three alarms. He did this and I still slept in. Work was okay other than everyone wanting to know how I was, how Stretch was, how the wedding was, the weather....... Went home and put in Buffy. MyLuc didn't get home til 9. I totally missed him. Didn't hear from anyone regarding Stretch so I presumed all was okay.
Wednesday - Work was a blur. It was a steady stream with no end and the time flew. By the time I got home I was so sleepy. I went and picked up veggies, n' fruit n' eggs from our Market and caught a cab home. I had set aside $20 a month for cab fare and I've totally almost used it all. *sigh* MyLuc got home at 6, taco salad, called my mom for info about Stretch. She said he's okay. His face is okay. The has some scarring on his eybrow n' cheek from the insertion of the plates, his bruising is all yellowed n' green and he's walking very slowly. She didn't know about the fusing of the vertabrae because Stretch had said he had pins implanted. She's going to talk with the doctor and get the real news. I was so totally relieved.
And that brings us to today. So far so good. Work is good. I was called in for a closed door meeting with the Coutts (1st on the letterhead) and he let me know I was getting a raise of $150. Woohoo! That rocks. Tonight MyLuc and I are having date night...dinner and a movie "The History of Violence" (I think that's the name).
If'n you've made it this far *HUGE HUGS* n' thanks for reading.
It's been a really really long two weeks. So much has happened, so many emotions surfaced...
Let me begin with Thursday, September 29, 2005. I received the dreaded 1030 telephone call from my Mom that one of my brothers had been in a car accident. She'd telephone me later when she had more information. That wasn't going to happen, me wait....so I called her right back we talked for a bit and then I had to wait, and wait and wait. 11:45 approx she called back. My little bro Stretch had crashed his car into a mountain near Moyie at 830 that morning. He was rushed to Cranbrook and then airlifted to Calgary at 3 and was identified at 9 that night. Identified?!? Wtf? He had no ID at all on him. They finally tracked our dad down through his cell phone, first calling his boss in Creston and giving identifying markings (thank god Stretch (my bro) likes Tattoos.) Then his boss called our dad, his wife called our other brother (Sprout) and so on. I was so upset and worried because the only information mom could give me was that he had internal bleeding from his seatbelt, brokern ribs, swelling on his spine, shattering of his left orbital bone, cheekbone and fracture to his upper jaw. That was quite enough tho'...I couldn't sleep, I cried and prayed and cried some more. MyLuc sat up with me and held me. I think I finally went to bed about 4.
I got up in the morning, went to work and waited and waited for more information. Nothing. No calls to the workline or the cell. I went home and waited and waited. Finally I spoke with Sprout. He told me that Stretch had had alcohol and drug tests. There was neither in his system. Thank goodness STretch isn't a drinker...he does smoke marijuana but I guess not enough to show?? They still weren't sure about his spine. He had seen a facial surgeon and was going to have plates placed in his orbital bone and cheek bone. They weren't sure about his sight.
Saturday I was functioning but still worried. I had one week to get everything ready for my bests wedding, still had to make an outfit and get the fabric for the outfit, had to be calm n' strong and not worry too much. I broke out in tears often and MyLuc was trying so hard to be there for me but he was making me angry more than helping me. I understand are powerful words. Use them sparingly. He was understanding that I was hurting, understanding that I was worried about my brother, understanding that I needed to cry, understanding that I was upset, understanding...about every freakin' thing. I wanted to scream. But I didn't. I just accepted that he wanted to help and was doing the best he could.
My girly girl and I went fabric shopping. I bought an underlining satiny material and an over matrial for my skirt. Bought a pattern. Went home and broke out the sewing machine. Started to building the underlining. Put in the zipper and tried it on. It was ghastly. No one my size should wear ruffles and ruffles it had. I showed MyLuc and he said "Aren't bridesmaids dresses supposed to be ugly?" I started to get upset. I'm the Maid of Honour not the Bridesmaid...I should look good. So I decided to use the overmaterial and make a wrap shirt using my valentines/xmas shirt for a pattern. After all...4 pieces with a long piece to wrap around ... what could go wrong. But I wasn't going to do that today. I'd had enough of sewing.
Monday went okay. I hadn't heard anything so I figured that was good. Monday night about 930 Stretch called me. He was all dopey n' drugged n' having problems speaking clearly but he sounded weird. Now, imagine the strongest man you know, one who doesn't cry, who has been through hades and come through with a clear mind/conscience and who doesn't cry....crying as hard as he can because "he sees a stranger in the mirror". I was devastated. I tried to be positive telling him that the outside could change all it wanted it was the inner person that would never change. He said he didn't know what had happened other than he tried to take on a mountain and lost. He had had some vertabrae (sp?) fused in his back because they had been crushed by the seat back when his face was meeting the steering wheel. This went on for about 1/2 hour and I was so upset. So then I called my Mom because I needed some cheering up and she tried her best to calm me down but it didn't help at all because all I could hear was my stepdad whining and complaining that her kids were so needy and couldn't they call at a decent hour. Grrrr! I totally dislike that man.
After hanging up I went and grabbed my Sara. A doll I've had since I was 5 that contains all my secrets, fears and o'course tears. She only comes out when I'm in dire need of someone who understands everything. I didn't stop crying for so long it seemed. I recall asking MyLuc if you could cry a bodies worth of tears. He said probably but it'd take a long while.
Random Thoughts
~ Check the thoughts before they exit your mouth:
I recently had GSD and TJP over for dinner with MyLuc n' I and mentioned something that I had read on one of the many blogs I lurk in. GSD didn't take it very well and holy moses...did I ever feel like a heel. She said no worries but yep, wrong thing to tell a chronic worrier. *sigh*Plus I am happy for the guy. I mean we all need happiness right? And she has a new person in her life and has/had moved on. It's all good. Right?!?
On my way outta town TJP called to see what was going on and I said I was heading out of town. I then proceeded to tell her that she could "occupy Luc" if she was free. WTF!!! I didn't catch it for like 5 seconds until the driver of the vehicle I was in almost had to pull over because she was laughing so hard. Itsa really good thing that people know what I mean when I have trouth mubles like this.
~ Speaking of which:
I went to a SCA event in Sooke on the Island. It was awesome. I was awarded with an Award of Arms. Its an award for service. ie: constable (patrolling for trouble), gate (door, collecting entry fees), water bearing (bringing water to the men in armor). My SCA title is now - Lady Phoebe Baxter. Hoorah for me. Although on the award itself it was spelled Poebe Baxtep *sigh* I guess in Runes there is no R so the Baxtep is understandable but the Poebe - no way jose - there is totally an H - especially since in the award itself some words contain one.
Work is going okay. We're still short some staff members and an accountant and a HR person. I mentioned to the main lawyer that I needed to get an advance on this pay and he almost fainted on the spot. Not giving just the regular pay but extra. Goodness. Ifn he's worried about that he won't like that I want $400. *shrug* I wouldn't ask if I didn't need it. We'll see come payday.
Okay, funny for Tuesday:
I Wish You Enough!
Recently I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said, "I love you and I wish you enough". The daughter replied, "Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom".
They kissed and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy but she welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?". Yes, I have," I replied. "Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?".
"I am old and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral," she said. "When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough'. May I ask what that means?".
She began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone". She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail and she smiled even more. "When we said , 'I wish you enough', we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them".
Then turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory.
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
She then began to cry and walked away.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.
TAKE TIME TO LIVE.....
To all my friends and loved ones, I WISH YOU ENOUGH *HUGE HUGS*
I tried not to intrude on her privacy but she welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?". Yes, I have," I replied. "Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?".
"I am old and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral," she said. "When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough'. May I ask what that means?".
She began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone". She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail and she smiled even more. "When we said , 'I wish you enough', we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them".
Then turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory.
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
She then began to cry and walked away.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.
TAKE TIME TO LIVE.....
To all my friends and loved ones, I WISH YOU ENOUGH *HUGE HUGS*
I did it! I did it!
I asked MyLuc to marry me. He said yes.
I gave him his ring for his bday (Sept. 8) along with his Corner Gas tee shirt, tickets to Corner Gas Live and the beginning edition of Killer Bunnies.
He opened the ring box, looked at me as was like "Wow! This is nice" I told him "What you expected me to get you crap?". He took it out of the box and asked me to put it on his finger. It was kinda weird in a Wow kinda way that the ring just slid on his finger perfectly.
He hasn't taken it off since. Which is totally awesome!
We went to his family September Birthday Party (cuz like 7 of them have bday's in Sept.) and I told him I wasn't going to be grabbing his hand and saying "Look at his ring...isn't his ring nice....did you see his ring?" Or variations of that. We picked up my girly girl and o'course the first thing I said was..."Did you see his ring?" And then we picked up Grandad Mel....I didn't say a word. Very proud of myself for that.
The first person I told was his Mom and I did it by saying "I gave him his ring. Did you see it?" I couldn't help myself. This was his mom. She cried. She has cried at least once every time I visit for almost 3 years. *sigh* She says it's menapause...I say it's me.
And then when my girly girl were coming outside to the deck we heard Grandad Mel say "You don't wear jewelry ... whatzat?" MyLuc held his hand out and was like "Oh, Melissa asked me to marry her...this is my engagment ring". It was too funny. Grandad Mel slapped him on the head and said "I was in the car with you and you didn't say anything".
Overall everyone was very happy and are totally asking "When's the Day?" "Have you set a day?"
I keep telling them. It's going to be a very long engagement. I have to polish up edges yet. And o'course the big three: 1. Go to Vegas and get married in the TLC wedding chapel by an Elvis; 2. Have an Elvis marry us here; 3. Country music at the reception. I know #3 is more possible than the others but I'm gonna try my damndest.
When I get a chance I'll post a pic of MyLuc's ring. It's very nice. I'm very proud of myself.
Trivia for The Goonies (1985)
Many sequences were shot but removed from the film:
Mikey discovers that the map has a "fold-in" similar to Mad Magazine.
Trivia for The Goonies (1985)
Many sequences were shot but removed from the film:
Mikey discovers that the map has a "fold-in" similar to Mad Magazine.
The Goonies stop at the "Stop and Snack" store (which can be seen in the opening credits) where they are harassed by Troy, who steals the map. The Goonies escape when Brand arrives.
The Goonies make Andy a Goonie by having her recite the Goonie oath. At the end of the oath, she screams "leech!" and the group discovers that they are covered with leeches. Data removes thm by electrifying a puddle with a battery.
Further sequences with Chunk and Sloth following the rest of the Goonies were filmed.
While using his "slick shoes," Data slips on the log. Mouth and Mikey attempt to rescue him and hold themselves down while being drenched by a wave.
While swimming to the Spanish boat, the group encounters an octopus. The octopus is driven away when Data throws his radio into its mouth. The octopus is mentioned to the reporters in the scene on the beach in the finished film, even though the scene was cut.
When Stef and Mouth are tied together to walk the plank, Stef offers to share her breath with Mouth. In the finished film, he thanks her for this, even though the scene was cut.
Trivia:
Trivia:
The pirate ship was entirely real. All the shots were filmed in the ship, not on separate stages. After the film, it was offered to anyone who would take it, but sadly, no one wanted it, so the ship was chopped into scraps.
Richard Donner kept both One-Eyed Willie's head and a model for the ship.
Some of the crew members played extras in the film. One cameraman played Mouth's father. Another played the dead man in the freezer. And an assistant director plays one of the cops on the AV scooters on the beach at the end.
During the scene where the boys are sitting in the living room watching MTV, they were not actually watching the Cyndi Lauper "Good Enough" video, which was to be developed six months after filming wrapped up.
Anne Ramsey really does slap Robert Davi when the Fratelli Brothers are arguing. She was told to hit him as hard as she could.
Jeff Cohen got the chicken pox after he got the role of Chunk. He showed up to the set anyway, afraid that they would have replaced him otherwise.
When Chunk calls the police to explain about the Fratellis, the cop disbelieves him, recalling all of Chunk's wild stories. One of which involved "little creatures that mutate when you pour water on them." This is a reference to Gremlins (1984), also written by Chris Columbus and also co-starring Corey Feldman.
Jennie Lew Tugend, assistant to director Richard Donner, has a small role as Data's mom in the finale.
'John Matuszak's' makeup included a remote controlled eye. He had to time his blinking to match the blinks of the robotic eye. A crew-member would countdown from three, two, one and tell him to blink.
The number of times a character says the word "shit" (or its derivative, "bullshit") is nineteen, not counting the line "Holy S-H-I-T!"
One scene of Chunk and Sloth following the trail of the other Goonies was added to the NBC TV showing of the film, even though twenty minutes were cut.
The original poster art (not used on the video tape box) featured the cast dangling from the feet of another with the top one hanging on a rock. Some of the newspaper ads featured slightly different artwork with the characters drawn in a different order from top to bottom.
The cast was not allowed to see the pirate ship before the scene was shot. When they did see it, some of the kids said "holy shit!" so the scene had to be re-shot without them cursing.
The model ship seen sailing at the film's end has a miniature R2-D2 (from Star Wars (1977)) hidden on the deck.
Director Cameo: [Richard Donner] one of the sheriffs on the quads as the Goonies exit the cave with the ship. He's the one with the gray hair.
The last name of the brothers who are chasing the Goonies is Fratelli. Fratelli means "brothers" in Italian.
The newspaper photo of Chester Copperpot is identical to the image that appears framed on Judge Oliver Wright's desk in Shock Treatment (1981).
Data's belt has "007" inscribed on it. He also listens to the James Bond theme before sliding on the rope over to Mikey's.
At one point in the movie, the character played by Sean Astin cries out "Holy Mackenzie!" Sean Astin's brother is Mackenzie Astin.
The music played when the kids discover the tunnel in the Fratellis' hideout by accidentally pouring water down it, is the same piece of music played in The Great Escape (1963) when the Germans discover the prisoners' first tunnel by accidentally pouring coffee down it.
Cyndi Lauper co-wrote the theme song "Goonies R Good Enough", and shot a music video that features a cameo by the film's executive producer Steven Spielberg.
Producer Steven Spielberg directed at least one scene in this movie
There is a song on the soundtrack entitled "8 Arms To Hold You" by a band called "The Goon Squad." However, this song was entirely removed from the film because it was used during the cut scene involving the octopus. However, because the filmmakers were convinced the song could be a hit, it was pressed as a 12" dance single. As it was cut out of the film, it wasn't promoted at all and thus sold miserably. It is still one of the most collectable Goonie items to date.
Mouth (Corey Feldman) wears a "Purple Rain" t-shirt throughout the film.
In the original version of this film, the woman hired by Mikey's mother is a Hispanic named Rosalita (Lupe Ontiveros), and Mouth helps Mrs. Walsh by translating her commands into Spanish (of course, in Mouth's "odd" way). In the Spanish version of this film, the character is changed from Hispanic to Italian, and her name from "Rosalita" to "Rossanna". The Italian used by the Spanish dubber is much better than the Spanish used by Corey Feldman, which is clearly phonetically-memorized.
In the scene where Chunk and Sloth head down through the grate to follow the gang and the Fratelli's, you can see that Sloth is wearing an Oakland Raiders T-Shirt. John Matuszak who played Sloth was a former Oakland Raiders football player.
The name "Rube G" can be seen painted on the contraption that opens the yard gate for Chunk near the beginning of the movie. This is in reference to Rube Goldberg, the Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist who drew whimsical machines that achieved simple results in difficult ways.
The kids who played the Goonies were allowed to bring some of their families into the final scene where they are reunited.
In the scene where rocks are falling from the cave ceiling, Jonathan Ke Quan (Data) screams "Holy S-H-I-T", spelling the expletive rather than saying it. He did this because his mother made him promise not to use any bad language in the movie.
In the scene where Sean Astin and Josh Brolin hug on the front porch, you can see director Dick Donner's trailer in the background.
The clip of a film played on TV in the basement of the Fratelli's hideout was that of the film The Sea Hawk (1940); the music, however, was from another of 'Errol Flynn' 's films, Adventures of Don Juan (1948). This theme, written by 'Max Steiner' , is again played when Sloth and Chunk save their fellow Goonies from the Fratellis on the pirate ship.
John Matuszak's make-up took five hours to complete. One of the eyes (which was out of place on the face) was mechanically operated off-screen by remote control. Someone would count down from three to one and Matuszak would blink his other eye in synchronization. The cast was told not to get him wet in scenes outside of the pirate ship, but the kids inadvertently did so, holding up filming for an entire day.
According to director Richard Donner in an interview with "The Directors", producer Steven Spielberg instructed the cast members to act cold and distant toward Donner on the last week of filming which puzzled him. Shortly after filming wrapped, Donner went to his beach house in Hawaii, ran into a frenzied neighbor who took up his entire day. When he arrived home, the entire cast was there with Donner to celebrate with a cookout. Spielberg flew them over to Hawaii on the promise that they not speak a word of the surprise to Donner, which prompted them to act the way they were on the last week of filming.
At the climax of the film, Sloth pulls off his shirt, revealing a Superman shirt and the theme music from the Superman movies is heard. Richard Donner also directed Superman (1978) and part of its sequel.
Scenes were mostly shot in sequence, with total production lasting for five months.
For one line of dialogue, Corey Feldman had to dub in the name of fast-food chain Godfather's Pizza when Pizza Hut refused participation in the film.
Jeff Cohen thought of his mother dying to generate tears during his "confession" scene with the Fratellis.
The Goonies Oath that was cut out goes as follows: "I will never betray my goon dock friends / We will stick together until the whole world ends / Through heaven and hell, and nuclear war / Good pals like us, will stick like tar / In the city, or the country, or the forest, or the boonies / I am proudly declared a fellow Goony."
According to Sean Astin, he was allowed to keep the treasure map used in the film. However, the map was lost forever when his mother discovered it several years later, thought it was just a crinkled piece of paper, and threw it in the trash.
Richard Donner kept both One-Eyed Willie's head and a model for the ship.
Depending on my mood and the colour of shirts I wear my eye colour changes. According to this though:
You chose hazel eyes.
That means you are a very sweet, thoughtful person.
You are gulliable too, so it's hard for you to
sometimes say no to situations you don't like.
You're too worried that you might hurt
someone's feelings that a lot of the time you
don't think about what you want. You are also
very generous. You love to hang out with your
friends, and laugh at every little
"funny" thing.
You know...
You're having a Monday week when:
You wake right up at 6 and want to start your day and put two different coloured socks on...
(This one MyLuc does often)
You have to chase the cat cuz she's decided that your socks are portable and oh so much fun to run with...
You get on the train to come to work and the underwire on your bra pokes through...both sides...
You get to work and go to unlock the door and fall through the door cuz it's already unlocked and not closed properly...
It's Friday and you've put the Tuesday backup tape in the server....
You have to take a second look at the receptionist cuz you ask her to send a two page letter to the client, take a photocopy and bring it back to you and she asks "Both pages?"...
*sigh*
I only have to be here until 4, I only have to be here until 4....
Hope your Friday is better than mine.
My girl Linds she's going through hoops n' loops n' emotions at a high speed but she always seems to remain on stable ground while the world around her spins n' twists. I am glad to be one of the friends that friends think of and that I can fit into the "calm in the storm" or the "calm in the midst of the chaos" definition...is that right...I think so....it sounds good to me. *HUGE HUGS* I'm there for you my girl and know that whenever I sign on to gmail for you I get tone one of those songs that stick stuck in my head.
My girlygirl is having trouble with a long distance relationship...I mean looooooooong and she really wants to have him home and not just talk to him on the landline. It's tought but hopefully she knows I'm there for her.
Borrowed from GSD :
Although the name Melissa creates the urge to be reliable and responsible, we emphasize that it can cause a superior, interfering expression whose favorite expression is "I know" when not combined with a balanced last name. This name, when not combined with a balanced last name, can also frustrate happiness, contentment, and success, as well as cause health weaknesses through worry and mental tension.
*Let's hope MyLuc's last name is one of balance ... although that is the symbol I had engraved on his ring - Balance
**Worry...me...naaah
Your name of Melissa gives you a clever mind, good business judgment, a sense of responsibility, and an appreciation of the finer things of life. You are serious-minded and not inclined to make light of things even in little ways, and in your younger years you had more mature interests than others your age. Home and family mean a great deal to you and it is natural that you should desire the security of a peaceful, settled home environment where you can enjoy the companionship of family and friends. Whatever you set out to accomplish you do your very best to complete in accordance with what you consider to be right.
* Business judgement - Great...NOT...although maybe that is why I was asked to balance the accounts for Eisenmarche.
Here's a quick blurb - well, I hope it isn't too long. I'll go from most recent n'o'course be sporadic.
My TNT (Team in Training) bracelets came in. I am going to sell them for $5. I have also been in touch with a local hot spot to host a fundraiser and I'm trying to get some businesses to donate for a silent auction. So far my training is going awesome, my fundraising so-so. But I'm trying.
MyLuc and I went windsurfing (Windsure) and I'll be the first to admit that I spent more time in the water than on the board but it was awesome. $50 for a 2 hour into lesson. The first hour for board work on land and wind knowledge and the second in the water on the board. I got "boomed" on the head so many times the instructor Dominique (nummy for a little guy 5" maybe") came over to check my pupils for a concussion. MyLuc took off and loved it although he said that getting the salt water outta his beard and hair was gross. And the highlite...telling Matty (the guy in the shop) that I needed a big wetsuit and getting the full body look n' him saying Naaaah you're just the right size. It was awesome. I wanted to give him a great big hug but that was until I had to shimmy n' squeeze into the wetsuit. Have you ever worn one? It's an adventure.
MyLuc and I attended a wedding of a family friend's son *shrug* I don't know the whole connection actually only that it was when MyLuc was a little'un. It was nice. Outside on the grass, short vows n' tears from both the bride and groom. The bride wore a simple A-line gown with beading on the bodice. If'n I can ever get the pics from MyLuc's computer I'll post some from their first dance as husband n' wife. It was awesome.
MyLuc's ring finally came in. I am going to hold onto it tho' and ask him again if he will marry me. This time I'll do it on his birthday n' then he can't remember the day. Although is the engagement day a day to remember? I mean, I remember our first date day April 6 although to MyLuc it's April 7 and his birthday which is Sept. 8 and some of his family members bdays (although that's cuz they correspond with bdays in my family) but is the engagement day a day to remember?
I talked with my Mom n' she said that Sprout (my little bro) was going to call me cuz he misses me. Surprised me cuz he disowned me last year on my bday for being selfish n' all. *sigh* If'n he wants to put the past behind that's okay. I mean we can't dwell and although my heart still kinda hurts for the mean words he spoke (wrote)...I can forgive...it'll just take a bit.
Haven't heard from Stretch (my other little bro) is a long while. When MyLuc n' I were in Trail Stretch showed up on the Friday and then Saturday lost his wallet with all of his money in it and had to leave cuz he had no id or rent money or nothin' n' had to get back to Creston n' get it fixed. Haven't heard from him since so I'm a little worried. But I'm the big sister that's my job.
Totally excited about September.
Friday I am going to listen to Toot-a-Lute - a medieaval folk group..members of which are my exes (is that the right spelling?). Saturday night, some of you may shake your head, I am going to BSB (and for those of you who don't know, that's okay). Sunday I have a training day 10km from 8am til I finish. Now I just walked 10km with MyLuc's mom and it took me 1.5 h. We'll see how long it takes me when I have the trainer with me. I know the first thing she'll say is Melissa you need to look at proper shoes cuz those cross trainers just don't work but then my response will be if you can afford to buy them I'll take them cuz if not you'll have to wait for payday. And then Monday will be recuperating. Although MyLuc wants to go windsurfing again and check out kitesurfing. We'll see.
And we'll see where Tuesday and the rest of September bring me. Cheers! to adventure!
