And because we know I should be working

I am 37% Asshole/Bitch.
Part Time Asshole/Bitch.
I may think I am an asshole or a bitch, but the truth is I am a good person at heart. Yeah sure, I can have a mean streak in me, but most of the people I meet like me.

Thanks to Glamazon for this test!
Quote of the Day: You can't buy love, but you can pay heavily for it. ~ H. Youngman
I'm somewhat blue this morning and have a heavy heart. I know it's for the best that my little bro ("Stretch") move to Creston to get away from the negativity in his life but I will miss him terribly.

Stretch and I grew up with an extreme hatred for each other. So much that Mom would lock us in the addition and let us go at it. We'd bite, hit, kick, punch, blacken each other up. I guess that was our way of purging the anger we received when our father would decided to have a "day".

Let me tell ya, until I was fifteen, there were a tremendous lot of "days". My Dad would come home after working at the Coal Mine and find something, anything, a little tiny thing and he'd start, I'd be first being the eldest, then Stretch and then Sprout....but in actuality only Stretch and I received the worst of it cuz by the time he'd be ready for a go around with Sprout our Mom would step in. I try to recall any good memories that I have of my childhood, I remember Dad and Mom going out and him smelling of Old Spice, and that'd be erased by being thrown across the room by my throat. Saddling Buck to go riding, that'd be erased by him hitting one of the horses with a two x four for holding it's breath so he couldn't get the saddle cinch tight. *sigh*

Anyways, the saying that Stretch and I share is that we credit our past for the people we are at present. I chose to get the Phoenix tattoo because for me it stood for rebirth - through hell to a much better place. Stretch has chosen dragons because they stand for strength and mastery - he is the master of his own fate/destiny.

For the last couple of weeks Stretch has been MIA. Sorta. From what I could figure, he went back to the Kootenays to escape his girlfriend/common law of 7 years. He didn't tell anyone. He just left. I telephone my Mom every couple of weeks for a "Hiya, Howsit" conversation and she mentioned that he was there and heading home. Okay I thought cool, MyLuc and I can get our videos and I can get a visit in when he's home.

Now I didn't know what was going on at all. I telephoned his gf and she said that they'd had a fight and it was over ... again. This time for sure. And me being me I'd listen and insert the suitable okay, uh huh, yes, right's into the correct spots in the conversation.

Monday night, MyLuc and I were having some time to ourselves and had gone to bed. It was 10 and the phone rang. We looked at the Caller ID, it's Stretch. He'll call back.

Tuesday, there was a message on my cell from Stretch, garbled and unclear that he'd be by Wednesday to drop some stuff off that he had for me about 4:30 and a number. *sigh* couldn't catch the number for the life of me. Got home, called for the message on the voicemail from Stretch, wasn't Stretch was the girlfriend. Call Search and Rescue she pleaded...I don't know where your brother is. I telephoned her to get the 411 and she was all, nope, he's in town somewhere, don't worry about it. Okaaay. *shrug* Hopefully Stretch'll call. He didn't and I went to bed worried and teary cuz I didn't know where he was. MyLuc tried to comfort me by saying he's like you a survivor, he'll be fine. I know I know, but I'm the big sister, I worry.

Wednesday, another message from Stretch. He'll stop by about 4:30. That doesn't work for me cuz I don't get home til 5. Call MyLuc, yep he'll be there. Okay. So I get home, and wait, no phone calls, nothing. 7 comes by and there's Stretch yelling from the alley to our balcony, come down! I go downstairs and he's loaded his life into his car. He's leaving for Creston in the morning. He looks so weary and sad. His coworker helped him load a truck with boxes and then he'd emptied the boxes into the car. It's so full. Stretch tells me that Mom has sent some stuff. My big bird chair which is so another story, Dad's wife Charlotte *gag* had packed some pictures n' stuff, she's packed a box for each one of us as she's only wanting "her" family in the house. Totally fine with me. Whatever. And MyLuc's movies with the books I had lent the girlfriend. I invite him up. MyLuc goes to have shower and leaves us alone. Stretch tells me his side of the story.
In short, he's 26 and wants children, she's 45 mom and grandma, she was pushing him so much that he had gotten so angry he wanted to hit her. He left. Did some thinking. Needs to leave and start new and get away from the negativity. Their friends were actually her friends and have given him no shoulder or ear. He's been in his car for the last couple of days sleeping cuz he doesn't have money for a hotel just for gas. He's outta her on the 30th.

I get a little teary, I understand that when it comes to violence we agree that if it comes into the home that's the end of the home. I told MyLuc before we started the relationship that if we ever came to a point where either of us wanted to get violent, that's it. No second chances that's the end. He tells me that in Creston he's got friends he considers family, he can get work and start saving up again for the future. He's paid all of the bills, rent for the month she just needs to get out on her own and mature. I told him that I understand that he's very independent and can do a whack on his own but he needs to call every once in a while. Maybe not for an actual conversation but just to let me know he's out there. I invited Stretch to stay, well actually I invited Stretch to have shower. He was kinda ripe. He grinned his crooked grin at me and said "Yeah, you're cats are looking a little wobbly after smelling my socks." He had his shower. He told MyLuc that he better take care of me and treat me right. Gave me a hug and walked out.

I cried myself to sleep knowing that my little brother is a good man who has a head on his shoulders and a heart that has been trampled. MyLuc held me until I fell asleep.

This morning waking up I'm still a little blue but I know that he'll be okay.

Stories from the Skytrain:

Woohoo! Got a seat, didn't have to wait to dash into the seat the second a persons ass has left it to get off the train. So psyched.

An older lady gets on *sigh* I get up and give her my seat. The skytrain's so full though that I have to hold onto the bar behind her head.

"Excuse me" she said, "you have something on your pants", pointing to my zipper. I look down and nope, my zippers up and my pants are spot free. "No there" she says and points to my bellybutton ring. I say "Oh that's just my bellybutton ring". She gets this look of horror on her face and looks away.

Several stops later I turn to let someone by me and I hear "Excuse me, you have pen on your back". "Oh" I reply, "that is my tattoo".

She gives me an up and down look, and from where she's sitting it's a long way to look up and says, "Someone your size really shouldn't do that to themselves," she gets up out of the seat and moves farther down the train.

Now I'm not a small person, I acknowledge that, but hadn't she heard that if you don't have anything good to say don't say it?

Oh well, at least I got the seat for the next few stops. Woohoo! No more standing!

Favourite Song Lyric of the Moment:

That the consequences of your actions really are just a game
That your life is just a chain reaction taking you day by day

Don't know why but it is. It's kinda a thinker....and true in a roundabout way.

A whole whack of stuff is crowded into my brain and o'course I've told MyLuc to ask only if he has the time cuz when he doesn't...his eyes blank out and he gets that look - Glamazon knows the one, he did it when she was over - kinda the zombie stare, drool excluded o'course.

For the life of me I can't recall Saturday so it must mean it was a good one...right?!? I think that's when we watched "Beyond the Sea" the Bobby Darin movie. I think.

It was Father's Day on Sunday. We went to MyLuc's grandads for a family barbeque (porkloin on the bbq..yummy!). There was a huge crowd, like there always is and one of his cousins, a young one, asked me why I was there and not with my Dad. Now, how do you explain to a 5 year old that you don't want to, without the echo of why? I simply stated that I wanted to spend time with her Grandad on this day. She looked at me and shrugged and said, that's okay, I'll share. *phew*

Monday - Work flew by. I finally had to tell my coworker to stop saying my name, she says it just cuz. She likes the sound of it. It doesn't mean that she wants to speak with me she just wants to say my name. I finally had to tell her that if she needed something ask me, please don't say my name all the freakin' time. Does it bug you? she asked. Nawwww...I just don't want it overused. WTF!?! MyLuc made meatloaf and garlic potatoes for dinner. Pretty good.

Well that about it for now, I actually have to work.

Quote of the Day: Ask No Questions, Learn No Lies

MyLuc and I saw "Batman Begins" last night. I really enjoyed the movie. There were some parts that were just so cheesy that I had to laugh out loud. And o'course I had questions to ask MyLuc but he was so involved in the movie he just waved his hand...ask me later. I don't know how many of you have seen the 10 minute trailer but MyLuc downloaded it so I did see a bit beforehand of what the movie entailed. The swordplay on the ice reminded me of the swordplay on the lake in Hero. *shrug* That's me...I have to connect scenes.

We went for sushi afterwards which is our norm. All you can eat and it's normally around $20-$30 and we're stuffed. We ordered...errr...actually MyLuc let me order. We ended up with 5 pieces of Amaebi, Tuna and Salmon, Four Tuna Sushi (on rice), 6 each of California Roll, Kappa Maki (Cucumber) and Dynamite Roll and Prawn and Veggie Tempura. I also ordered an Ebi Sunomono. I normally would have ordered Gomaee but this particular restaurant doesn't have it on the menu. We ate it all. Well actually, MyLuc finished partway through and just sat back and watched me it. It was quite disconcerting and I almost finished...almost but not quite...I couldn't eat my portion of the Tuna Sushi - too fishy (weird eh) and one of the Amaebi, it had too much masago on it. *shuddeer* fish eggs on prawn *shrug*

As I read the above I realize I know a whack about Sushi and Sashimi and all the other things you can normally order in a Japanese restaurant. It's weird, before I moved to Vancouver in 1997 I hadn't even had sushi, thought it was gross and now, I have cravings at least twice a month...which of course get satisfied when MyLuc and I have date night (movie and sushi) and we meet up with his parents and sis n' her fiance for sushi. My Mom wouldn't even....it's too funny but I can't eat cooked fish...or barely and here I am chowing down on the raw stuff. Times and tastes sure change over the years.

I had to add this next part..it was sooo cute...and sooo true:

7 reasons not to mess with a child

A little girl: was talking to her teacher about whales.The teacher: said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.

The little girl: stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.Irritated, the teacher: reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl: said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah".The teacher: asked, " What if Jonah went to hell?"The little girl: replied, "Then you ask him".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Kindergarten teacher: was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.
As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.The girl: replied, "I'm drawing God."
The teacher: paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."
Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl: replied, "They will in a minute."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Sunday school teacher: was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.After explaining the commandment to "honor" thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, "Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?"

Without missing a beat one little boy: (the oldest of a family) answered, "Thou shall not kill."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head.She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, "Why are some of your hairs white, Mom?"Her mother replied, "Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white."
The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, "Momma, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.'

A small voice at the back of the room rang out, "And there's the teacher, She's dead. "
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, "Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face.."
"Yes," the class said."Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?"A little fellow shouted,"Cause your feet ain't empty."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:"Take only ONE. God is watching."

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples.

Friday Adventures

We had Glamazon over for a steak and prawns dinner with strawberry rhubard pie for dessert. We laughed, we talked, we gossipped, we totally harassed each other and the topics of conversation totally varied. Glamazon and Myluc have almost the same quirky sense of humour although she gets all bulldoggy when he goes to far with me "If you were my boyfriend you'd end up with a black eye!!" (Gotta love her for it). It's great. And there was Myluc's word of the evening: Snorrfelling - the art of eating and inhaling at the same time; inhalation and choking on hot strawberry rhubarb pie while laughing

We watched "The Fifth Element" and then the conversation varied into "Did yo say the Fifth Elephant?" no no...."Isn't Element the french word for prositute?" And o'course we had sound effects outside the movie because I had bought a mouse that makes noises as Elizabether says "A little kids space sword". We couldn't quite figure out how to spell it but this is the closest I got "puw puw"...we spent a good time figuring out the phonetics of this "space mouse" and let me tell ya...fun stuff.

Quote of the Day: Life is like an hourglass glued to the table.

MyLuc and I went to the Fostercare home on Friday to look at two kittens. I told MyLuc that he'd have to make the decision because they're kittens, cuddly n' cute, I'd want them right away. We went in and there they were in all their 10 week glory, two tabby kittens, one light gray with darker gray stripes and one darker gray with black stripes. Totally cute and we fell. Both of us. We had to wait until Saturday tho to pick them up cuz we had to fill out all of the paperwork n' all at the SPCA. $105 each with $45 of that going toward spaying. Not to bad. They cried in the carrier all the way home and Mickey was so suspcious...he didn't know which to watch and o'course being two of them he spent all of his time finding the highest point so he could figure out what exactly they were...totally cute. We only had an hour to spend with them because we were going up to the Capilano Suspension Bridge with Strongarm and my girly girl. It was a good time but Myluc and I wanted to go home and see the girls. We couldn't figure out names and MyLuc kept saying "Mine" so I started calling her that and "No Name" and o'course I had too many names and none that really stuck, "Trouble" being foremost because she kept sneaking up on Mickey and making him jump. We took my girly girl home and MyLuc made nachos. I decided on Chloe. Don't know why but it fits. MyLuc...no idea what to call his. Sunday MyLuc's mom came over for an hour or so. He still didn't know what to call her. We basically just vegged and had a relaxing day with lovin' and laughter. I went to the Doctor on Monday with my fingers crossed. He prodded and poked and pulled and pushed and no pain. Woohoo. I had a really relaxing weekend because I wanted to make sure I was back to work. I mean, MyLuc and I have a whack of a DVD collection and I had borrowed a few and I watched them all. I mean...not every single one of them...I skipped the horrors and the stupids (well, some of them) but I spent at least 8 hours watching tv...that's what I was told to do and so I did. Boring. Thank goodness it's over and let me tell ya...I never want to have that kind of pain again or see poison streaks. Freakin' scary stuff. MyLuc finally decided on Emma for his kittens name. Being a tabby she has the M like markings on her forehead. It totally fits her too. Came in on Tuesday and my female lawyer has gone. She accepted a job with another firm as a part of a team instead of private practice. I'm so totally gonna miss her. Her office it's like...crickets...ya know....twilight evening on the prairie and crickets is all you hear. And then there is Tom...I can't nick him cuz I just don't know what to call him. He's pretty cool. Bought me a bouquet of flowers and gave me a welcome back hug. And then that's it. Didn't see him cuz he was preparing for Trial. Thank god I didn't have to do the work for preparation. I thanked the secretary who did and offered her half my flowers but she doesn't do mums....they aren't mums but I didn't say a word...more like some kind of daisy that I wouldn't consider buying myself but hey...it's the thought that counts. Everyone is glad I'm back...me too...missed being here with people instead of home with the cats and myLuc. I love the guy but you know you've spent too much time together when you want him to go visit his parents....and spend a coupla nights. It's Wednesday, a really, really long Wednesday. I know it's the middle of the week and my second day back at work but c'mon now.... how am I supposed to catch up with everything in one day. Not gonna happen. I'm a really good secretary/assistant but after being off work for two weeks ... I'm just a waste of space until I can get my head back around all the work that I was doing, had started to do and was supposed to do. It helped a little that the secretaries tried to make sure my desk wasn't totally overwhelmed but still....*sigh* whine whine whine... Well, that's about it. Gotta start wading through the filing and paperwork that has piled up. Hopefully I'll have some stories by the end of the week. If not, be prepared to read a weeks worth. *HUGE HUGS*

Long time no hear eh!?!

I have been off work for two weeks now and am so totally bored outta my gourd. For someone who can't read a book when she once read two a day and now can only sit and watch DVD's....*sigh* I try and surf and keep up with my friends and their blogs but....it's hard work when someone who is extremely right handed cannot use it at all and what's that saying the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. So true, my left has been on vacation and is now like "WTF!"

I wend to a clinic and they told me that I had some 28 letter "itis" word that basically the tendons in my thumb and wrist had swollen my tendon tunnel and there was no liquid going through. Buy a wrist brace with a thumb splint and have some antiinflammatories and go to work. So I did. The pain was horrid. It felt like there were cold compresses on my arm all the time and the 50$ wrist brace held my arm and thumb but I have itsy bitsy wrists so there was movement. So frustrating and painful.

Survived Saturday and Sunday by having myLuc harass me cuz if I don't get better soon he'll have to go see Dr. Bishop cuz of his back. My poor man has to do dishes cuz I can't and he whines...gawd....

Monday last I had an appointment with our family doctor, Dr. Bishop, and he took off the splint and turned my arm this way and that, pressed here and there and voila! I have something called Cellulitis. The only cure is no movement, rest and a dual acting penicilin. No working, rest, see the doc every day.

Tuesday I went to work in the morning to give my no work form to our HR person and then to the doctor. Tried typing but left hand only 30 words so doesn't cut it when you can do 110. Cancelled on my girly girl cuz if I wasn't s'posed to move then going out with her prolly wouldn't have been a good idea.

Wednesday, doctor and like 10 dvds. We had smokies for dinner cuz I could handle the tongs but myLuc had to cut up the fixings cuz I couldn't use a knife.

Thursday, sooo bored. Thought, my arm doesn't hurt that bad I'll do dishes. Stupid freaking girl I am. We did a pork roast on the Cobb. Took forever but was good.

Friday went to the doctor and he turned my arm this way and that way and poked it here and there and well...sooo much pain afterwards. He said to massage my hand, arm and chest with olive oil to get the poison moving. Great idea. Hurts like Hades but I'll do it in order to get better. Myluc and I went and rented a whack of DVD's and his suggestion was if I was going to be off work we should rent a whack. So we did. I even got the first season of Punk'd with Ashton Kutcher (MyLuc groaned and thanked whomever that he didn't have to stay home with me).

Saturday, myLuc and I went to find kittens. Yep, we're on the search for two medium to long hair kittens, preferably from the same litter and not black and white. If you've known Trigger you know why. Groceries and liquor store run. My girly girl came over and we three drank a whack of Sangria, had steak, myLuc's staple meal, watched the 2004 version of the Stepford Wives and Starsky and Hutch and then off she went.

Sunday, myLuc and I had said yes to an SCA Eisemarche Demo in Vancouver and so we geared up and off we went. It rained and rained and as MyLuc's SCA name is Noah....let's just say it was pretty damn funny. Although it was wet and miserable I think we did the Safeway a good thank you with dancing and some fighting and a presentation of a framed scroll as a thank you for their donations to events over the years. Home myLuc and I went, hot showers, leftovers and some movies. Little Black Book was just stupidly weird. I like Brittany Murphy but this was a little odd. Fun but odd.

And here I am now...Monday. I started this blog entry at 730 and am now done. Typing with one hand totally sucks and o'course I apologize for any misspellings and errors. I am waiting for my appointment this non-rainy Monday to go to the doctors and then to the grocery store to pick up some milk and then home. It so sucks being "ill".

*HUGE HUGES* Hope y'all are doing well...TTYL.
