*HUGE HUGS *
Congratulations to Kim and Norm!
The news this morning of the expected addition to your family is awesome!
Great news to lift the mood on a rainy, gloomy Monday.
Last night MyLuc and I went to see Bewitched. I have to say that I quite liked it although there were some points when Will Farrell (sp?) had me wishing for a fork to poke in my eye. Nicole Kidman did an awesome job and had me wishing for a chance to "rewind".
I decided that I wanted to pick up a digital camera for my upcoming trip to Trail. I don't know when next I'll get to get pictures of the Cameron family all together when my Gran is alive so I totally wanted to capture the moments with something other than a disposable camera. My plan, to enter a few stores and compare pricing, decide which one suited my needs and purchase it. *shrug* Sounded good to me.
Lo and behold, the way I shop for anything electronic doesn't bode well when MyLuc is with me. He's got the knowhow and the power words that will make salesmens ears perk up cuz they have someone who may try to trick them...somehow.
Before the movie started we went into Superstore. I was actually looking for CSI Las Vegas Seasons 1 and 2 or Buffy Season 2....under $60. We wandered over to the digital camera area and what do I see, a Fuji digital camera with printer. Sounds good but then MyLuc had a look at the box and the feature the camera came with a totally was like "No". Okaaaay...so then over to the display case where a Fuji camera was on sale for $247 with a $50 rebate. Looked good, simple enough for me to use...had a zoom feature. MyLuc came over, went to get the salesperson, started asking her questions and she was like, I don't know, *shrug* I don't know maybe....needless to say MyLuc made me write down all the info so he could look online to see the deals. Next stop - Future shop. Nothing under $500 so we left. Over to A&B. Two cameras, a Sony $249 and a Panasonic $279. MyLuc and the salesguy talked shop about features and stuff, I played with the zoom and the movie w/audio feature and tried, really I did to all the shop talk. I know that I like the Panasonic feature with the stabilizer. We all need that when we're a little shaky. And again, I had to write down all the info so MyLuc could check it out online. On the way out I asked for the salesguy's card so that I could get him to hold one of the cameras for me if MyLuc deemed it A-OK.
We watched the movie. I told MyLuc I needed a drink cuz my water bottle was empty. He came back with Strawberry Bubble Tea. I love the stuff. So sweet and refreshing with chunks of strawberry and o'course the pearls. Tapioca type stuff...I think. MyLuc had never had a bubble tea but he has this thing about trying stuff sooo...he took a long slurp of the straw and was totally not prepared for the pearls. The look that came across his face...priceless. During the movie he figured out if he lifted the straw he'd get the juice not the pearls...this I figured out when I had a whack of pearls left and no juice. It was too funny, I ended up just stabbing them with the straw or trying to suck'em up. It kinda worked.
On the way home MyLuc decides we should stop at London Drugs and see their selection of digital cameras. They have at least 10 that are under $300. I like those odds. MyLuc and the salesguy commence the camera talk and I add in the occasional ....so it has a stabilizer (Like I know what I'm talking about). The salesguy then tells us of one that has been on sale and that he's getting them in on Sunday. Monday we can come see if there are any left. The guy gets on the computer to give MyLuc all the info...by this time I can honestly say I was getting ready to just say, sounds good, save one and I'll buy it. I didn't want to hear anymore. And o'course MyLuc has me write all the info down. I get the guys card with the type of camera on it ...an Olympus and we're off.
It's close to 10, it's been a long day, the kittens are wound tighter than a yoyo and I'm tired. We get home, MyLuc gets on the computer and lo and behold. I have permission to get the London Drugs Olympus digital camera. MyLuc crawls into bed and we do the number crunching - the camera is $279 with a $50 rebate (I think), I need to purchase a new memory card $70, a case $20 and batteries $50 or more. So far the camera is costing me $350-$400. But MyLuc says it's got all the features I need and it prolly won't be on sale anytime soon. Totally gotta think about it.
On the minus side is cost. That's huge. On the plus side, all the features I want plus a few that I can learn to use and I'll have better pictures than a disposable can take when I see my family.
We'll see.
