Quote of the Day: Life is like an hourglass glued to the table.

MyLuc and I went to the Fostercare home on Friday to look at two kittens. I told MyLuc that he'd have to make the decision because they're kittens, cuddly n' cute, I'd want them right away. We went in and there they were in all their 10 week glory, two tabby kittens, one light gray with darker gray stripes and one darker gray with black stripes. Totally cute and we fell. Both of us. We had to wait until Saturday tho to pick them up cuz we had to fill out all of the paperwork n' all at the SPCA. $105 each with $45 of that going toward spaying. Not to bad. They cried in the carrier all the way home and Mickey was so suspcious...he didn't know which to watch and o'course being two of them he spent all of his time finding the highest point so he could figure out what exactly they were...totally cute. We only had an hour to spend with them because we were going up to the Capilano Suspension Bridge with Strongarm and my girly girl. It was a good time but Myluc and I wanted to go home and see the girls. We couldn't figure out names and MyLuc kept saying "Mine" so I started calling her that and "No Name" and o'course I had too many names and none that really stuck, "Trouble" being foremost because she kept sneaking up on Mickey and making him jump. We took my girly girl home and MyLuc made nachos. I decided on Chloe. Don't know why but it fits. MyLuc...no idea what to call his. Sunday MyLuc's mom came over for an hour or so. He still didn't know what to call her. We basically just vegged and had a relaxing day with lovin' and laughter. I went to the Doctor on Monday with my fingers crossed. He prodded and poked and pulled and pushed and no pain. Woohoo. I had a really relaxing weekend because I wanted to make sure I was back to work. I mean, MyLuc and I have a whack of a DVD collection and I had borrowed a few and I watched them all. I mean...not every single one of them...I skipped the horrors and the stupids (well, some of them) but I spent at least 8 hours watching tv...that's what I was told to do and so I did. Boring. Thank goodness it's over and let me tell ya...I never want to have that kind of pain again or see poison streaks. Freakin' scary stuff. MyLuc finally decided on Emma for his kittens name. Being a tabby she has the M like markings on her forehead. It totally fits her too. Came in on Tuesday and my female lawyer has gone. She accepted a job with another firm as a part of a team instead of private practice. I'm so totally gonna miss her. Her office it's like...crickets...ya know....twilight evening on the prairie and crickets is all you hear. And then there is Tom...I can't nick him cuz I just don't know what to call him. He's pretty cool. Bought me a bouquet of flowers and gave me a welcome back hug. And then that's it. Didn't see him cuz he was preparing for Trial. Thank god I didn't have to do the work for preparation. I thanked the secretary who did and offered her half my flowers but she doesn't do mums....they aren't mums but I didn't say a word...more like some kind of daisy that I wouldn't consider buying myself but hey...it's the thought that counts. Everyone is glad I'm back...me too...missed being here with people instead of home with the cats and myLuc. I love the guy but you know you've spent too much time together when you want him to go visit his parents....and spend a coupla nights. It's Wednesday, a really, really long Wednesday. I know it's the middle of the week and my second day back at work but c'mon now.... how am I supposed to catch up with everything in one day. Not gonna happen. I'm a really good secretary/assistant but after being off work for two weeks ... I'm just a waste of space until I can get my head back around all the work that I was doing, had started to do and was supposed to do. It helped a little that the secretaries tried to make sure my desk wasn't totally overwhelmed but still....*sigh* whine whine whine... Well, that's about it. Gotta start wading through the filing and paperwork that has piled up. Hopefully I'll have some stories by the end of the week. If not, be prepared to read a weeks worth. *HUGE HUGS*

Totally feeling better and the backlog...actually not that bad. The most irritating thing was I was only gone for 2 weeks and the older Secretaries forgot my name....I even created on of those stickers "Hi, my name is Melissa".
